AHCX rewards school for afforestation drive

As part of its campaign to promote restoration of vegetative cover across the country, Auction Holdings Commodity Exchange (AHCX) has awarded a school in Mwanza for registering a high tree survival rate compared to other schools in the district.

The winning school, Mwanza Catholic Primary, received shovels, water cans, gardening materials and writing materials from AHCX.

Marketing Manager at AHCX, William Kawenda, said the school was recognised for the effort it put to register 86 percent tree survival rate.

“It is our corporate social responsibility to fight deforestation to mitigate the effects of climate change to the country,” said Kawenda.

Assistant District Forestry Officer, Sydney Kananji, hailed AHCX for the initiative.
