Airtel customers to recharge on roaming

Airtel Malawi on Friday unveiled a new service that enables subscribers to recharge while roaming anywhere around the world.

The services that has been introduced in Malawi for the first time is being provided by an Irish company, Ding, which has partnered with the local network provider.

Ding is the world’s leading provider of this airtime recharge service as it boasts of over three billion subscribers from different network providers across the globe accessing the international recharge service.

Airtel Sales Director Elias Imaan said the service provides convenience to subscribers who fail to recharge their phones when they are roaming outside the country.

“This service is a solution to those that find it difficult to recharge when they travel outside the country. They can recharge on their phones or somebody’s phone back home,” said Imaan.

The web based service will require visa card with foreign currency before one transacts but, according to Imaan, Ding has outlets in over 130 countries where subscribers can buy recharge vouchers.

Imaan said the service is available to any of the over three million subscribers of Airtel in the country at an affordable fee and is already working at the moment.
