Airtel Malawi donated various items to orphans at Chikondi and Mphatso Orphanage Care Centre in Lilongwe as part of its charity initiatives for the festive season.

The items included bales of sugar, rice, cooking oil, school bags and clothes, all worth K5 million.

Airtel Corporate and Communications Manager, Norah Chirwa, said every year, Airtel donates to selected orphanages during the festive season.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, every year, we identify an orphanage either from the Northern, Central or Southern regions. So, this year, we identified this orphanage to receive this year’s donation. We want the children to enjoy the festive season,” she said.

Executive Director of the orphanage, Crosby Mphande, thanked Airtel for the gesture.

“We are very happy that Airtel decided to come and help the children here. This is the first time for Airtel to come here,” he said.
