Catholic Institute School receives books from Sunbird
As part of commemorations for International Literacy day, Sunbird Hotels and Resorts on Wednesday donated books to Catholic Institute (CI) Primary School in Blantyre.
The school will also get a subscription for The Daily Times newspaper for one year courtesy of Sunbird Hotels.
This is part of an ongoing project that will see the company disbursing K1.2 million worth of books and The Daily Times newspaper subscription to various primary schools in the country.
Sunbird public relations officer, Akossa Mphepo, said that reading has to grow as it makes a person innovative and successful.
“Reading is an active mental process that helps one think more, improve vocabulary, improve concentration and focus and reasoning skills, among others,” said Mphepo.
CI school head teacher, James Kapangama thanked the company for the gesture and promised to take good care for the books.
CI primary has 4,000 enrolled learners.
