The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Malawi Chapter has disclosed that it is crafting deliberate strategies towards developing the marketing profession in the country by partnering various tertiary institutions.
During this year’s Annual Marketing Conference, which was held from September 14 to 17, CIM Malawi invited over 60 university students from the Marketing Students Society (Mass) and Malawi Assemblies of God (Magu).
The conference covered various topics on marketing, including how to grow a business through proper data collection and analysis and how to prevent cybercrime.
The student delegates were offered an opportunity to gain insights from experts in the various fields, namely Sparc Technologies Managing Director, Wisely Phiri, Nico Technologies General Manager, Clarence Gama and Mhub Founder, Rachel Sibande.
The conference also discussed whether Malawi is ready for ‘The Internet of Things’ and how such developments can change the fundamentals of the marketing profession.
Seasoned marketer, Enwell Kadango, who is now Managing Director of Petroleum Importers Limited, also gave a presentation sharing his secrets to success.
According to CIM Board Publicist, Isabel Kachinjika, this is not the first time that her association has partnered tertiary institutes in the country.
“As the official marketing body in the country, we believe it is our mandate to ensure that aspiring marketers have access to a wealth of information and resources that will empower them to become leaders in this field and in their respective organisations.”
Kachinjika further indicated that the board has been visiting various institutions where they have been providing career talks on various topics. She further disclosed that more activities are lined up in the new financial calendar, which kicks off in October.
