Ethiopian Airlines, the strategic partner in Malawian Airlines, has been named African Airline of the year by the African Airlines Association (AAA).

This was announced last week during the 6th Annual General Meeting of AAA held in Algeria.

The airline, which has daily flights from Lilongwe and Blantyre to Addis Ababa, has been awarded for its exceptional results in 2013, consistent profitability, and sound strategy, which has enabled it to forge win-win partnerships with other, African airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines Malawi country manager, Hafer Hamid, said this is a great boost for the company which is already enjoying good business in Malawi. “We will continue to improve our services,” said Hamid.

Hamid said with the festive period coming up, the company is geared to even increase flights where need be on both Lilongwe and Blantyre departure points.

Ethiopian is a global Pan- African carrier currently serving 84 international destinations across the five continents with over 200 daily flights using the latest technology aircraft such as the Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s.

In August 2014, it was also a recipient of the Passenger Choice awards as the Best Airline in Africa in the most extensive survey of passengers in the industry.
