Farmers Union of Malawi wins global award

The Farmers Union of Malawi has received an international award for its strong commitment to quality and excellence.

Fum says the International Star Award for Quality in the Gold Category has been presented to the union by the Madrid, Spain-based Business Initiative Directions Group (BID) in recognition of its dedication to quality, leadership, technology and innovation.

Fum chief executive officer, Prince Kapondamgaga, received the price on behalf of the union during a ceremony which took place at the InterContinental Geneva Convention Hall, in Geneva, Switzerland.

BID Group president, Jose Prieto said Fum has been recognised for making quality a core focus for continuous improvement of management to maintain leadership in its sector and community.

According to BID, for an organisation to get an International Star Award for Quality, it must have successfully implemented a Total Quality Management programme covering areas such quality assurance, customer minded approach, job satisfaction, technological renewal, system efficiency, leadership in society and business viability.
