New Finance Bank (NFB) has donated K500 000 towards organisation of an international Women in Tourism conference slated for Lilongwe on November 22 this year.

The bank said it decided to support the conference to help in the generation of new ideas for advancing tourism activities among women.

NFB deputy chief executive Officer, Gilford Kadzakumanja, said the support is part of the bank’s strategy to support potential business activities that need financial and technical support.

“As we were discussing with them on a number of areas that we can work together, we came across their plans to host this international conference. So we decided to help them, realising the numerous opportunities the confidence will bring to women in tourism,” said Kadzakumanja.

Association of Women in Tourism central region chairperson, Clara Munthali, said the donation will help bring more women from other parts of the country to join the 100 foreign delegates from the region.

Munthali said the conference is an opportunity for the local women to learn new ideas, get exposure to finance windows and get information about new markets that tourism brings within the region.

“Our intention is to make sure women from all parts of the country participate to exchange ideas and learn from other and get exposure,” she explained.
