Finca Malawi, one of the micro-lending institutions in the country, has donated four computers worth K1 million to Ngumbe Community Day Secondary School in Blantyre to enable students at the school learn computer skills.

Finca marketing manager Samuel Mwalungila said the institution decided to donate the computers as one way of enhancing access to IT facilities by students.

“Computer lessons, just like the internet, are a necessity these nowadays and remain crucial to the country’s development,” he said.

He said Finca expects the computer lessons to help produce a future workforce with appropriate skills to be absorbed in various industries, such as banking and telecommunications.

On his part, Ngumbe CDSS head teacher Welson Phiri hailed Finca for partnering government to ensure that learners have the knowhow in ICT.

“We would like to urge other well-wishers to come in and donate to the school as we are facing various challenges.” said Phiri.
