
FMB supports NPL fun run
First Merchant Bank has donated various medical items worth K1 million towards a mothers’ day fun run organised by Nation Publication Limited (NPL).
Speaking when she was presenting the donation in Blantyre on Thursday, FMB head of marketing, Sylvia Mataka, said the bank decided to support the NPL initiative because it was in line with one of its corporate social responsibility focus area of health.
“Our focus is on education, sports, and health but heal this paramount because without health, the country can’t develop,” said Mataka.
She said FMB has been participating in the fun run for the past five years.
NPL’s Mothers’ Day Fun Run project coordinator, Herbert Chagunda, thanked FMB for once against supporting in the initiative.
He said the project is targeting at raising K30 million for purchasing medical equipment for Mchinji District Hospital and that so far, K25 million has been generated.
