Leasing and Finance Company aids needy Chanco student

The Leasing and Finance Company of Malawi (LFC) on Tuesday donated K830,000 to Hope for the Blind to help a first year-female visually impaired Chancellor College student, Alinafe Matchado.

The money will go towards payment of Alinafe’s tuition fees as well as upkeep allowances.

LFC Business Development Manager, Uchizi Ngwira, said the assistance is part of his company’s corporate social responsibility.

“As a business, we decided to help because we feel we have a responsibility of taking back some of the money we make to the society in which we operate,” Ngwira said.

Matchado is currently in her first year studying for a Bachelor of Arts, Education. The donation will take care of her education needs in the first year.

Hope for the Blind Executive Director, Hastings Bwande, hailed LFC for the donation.

He appealed to the firm to consider taking care of Matchado’s education needs throughout her four-year studies at Chancellor College.

Matchado promised to work extra hard in class so as complete her studies with flying colours.
