Lilongwe City Mayor, Desmond Bikoko, has urged Malawians to be creative by coming up with original business ideas instead of copying what others are doing.
Bikoko said this will help grow business operations in the country.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of the launch of DC Brand Cloud, an advertising firm in Lilongwe.
DC Brand Cloud is a media company that, among other things, offers event management, digital services and advertising services.
Bikoko said there is still space for people to establish different businesses in the city but cautioned that, if businesses are to grow, people should not copy ideas from existing companies.
“The business environment is conducive; it just needs entrepreneurs to create a platform for themselves and be creative. Often times, we see businesses copying each other which should not be the case,” he said.
DC Brand Managing Director, Dorothy Nkhoma, said she will incorporate an aspect of creativity in her business.
“There is a gap that we intend to bridge. We are going to make sure that we bring a difference. I have got some international employees that do better when it comes to art works,” she said.
