A local startup company, Angle Dimension, has been nominated for the World Summit Award (WSA) for its innovative Khusa village savings mobile application.
The application allows members of business groups to save money electronically and have access to group-loans from commercial banks.
It also allows groups to keep track of their savings and loans while sending and receiving funds via mobile money applications and bank wallets.
In a press statement, the World Summit says Khusa was nominated for the best national digital solution award for its outstanding impact on growth of local small-scale businesses.
“With this nomination in the Category Inclusion and Empowerment, Khusa qualifies for evaluation among over 400 international projects by the WSA Jury 2018,” reads part of the statement.
Angle Dimension Chief Technology Officer, Henry Alfred Sauzande, said the firm is excited with the nomination.
“This gives us hope that this innovation does not only solve the challenges our community faces but Africa as a whole. We are motivated to take this innovation to a level where it can bring true financial inclusion to Malawi,” Sauzande said.
He said Khusa is helping community savings groups to mitigate risks associated with handling hard cash.
