Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL), a subsidiary of conglomerate Press Corporation Limited, last week launched its Bring a Child to Work campaign at a ceremony held in Blantyre.

Speaking during the launch, MTL Corporate Affairs Manager, Tina Das, said that the campaign is part of the company’s community outreach programme and aims at empowering students to make informed decisions about their career choices.

She also said the campaign will help the students have practical experience of their respective careers.

‘’We want the students who are participating in this programme to come out knowing what they want to do in the future and also to evaluate whether their current career choices are suitable for them,” Das said.

Participating students have already started benefitting from the programme. Chawanangwa Mswayo, an aspiring marketer has since been taken through the MTL Marketing Department.

He said the experience has broadened the passion he has for his chosen career through the things he has learnt in his one day work and practical experience at MTL.

“It was mostly due to the environment my supervisor created. I could ask questions and get relevant answers to do with my career ambitions. I thank MTL management for this noble initiative,” he said.

There are about 35 students participating and the campaign is schedule to cover the month of April, according to Das.
