National Bank of Malawi champions employee health
National Bank of Malawi on Tuesday observed Health Day to highlight the importance of healthy employees in the successful operations of business establishments.
Leading the cause, Chief Executive Officer of National Bank George Partridge said the exercise was done for the benefit of the bank’s employees who usually do not have time to go to the hospital for checkups.
“This has changed the habit of most of our staff as they now recognise that health is important,” he said
He said since the introduction of the Health Day three years ago, the bank has registered a notable change in the amounts paid to cover employees’ medical bills.
“We have seen the bills paid for staff reduced because of this internalization and cultural change,” he explained.
Patridge said he was pleased with this year’s turn up and hopes to eventually achieve a 100 percent turn up in future.
The Health Day was held in all National Bank centres and branches across the country.
