National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has committed K32 million in scholarship support to 20 students pursuing various programmes at The Polytechnic in Blantyre.
Each student will get K1.6 million.
Speaking when the bank unveiled the multi-million kwacha sponsorship programme, NBM Chief Executive Officer, Macfussy Kawawa, said education is a priority among the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
“That is why we did not hesitate when we were approached by The Polytechnic alumni to support some students at the school,” he said.
Kawawa shared his own personal academic journey to inspire the students to make the best of the sponsorship.
“The best way you can pay back the good others have done to you is to also help others who are in need,” he said.
Representative of The Polytechnic alumni group, Newton Kambala, thanked NBM for the support.
