National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has awarded four students at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) for being the best in their respective faculties.

The awards were presented at the Luanar campus in Lilongwe on Monday as part of an annual event where the bank recognises outstanding students at the university. The four students, comprising two males and two females, were presented with K250, 000 each and certificates of excellence.

NBM chief executive officer, George Partridge, said the awards are meant motivate students in their academic pursuit while lessening their financial challenges.

“This is a way of recognising hard work demonstrated by these students and I wish to assure the students that the bank will continue with the awards,” said Partridge.

On his part, Luanar vice chancellor, George Kanyama-Phiri, said the bank’s gesture is a great motivator to students, especially those with financial challenges as they strive to emerge on the top.
