MIJ FM business journalist, George Lumwila, is this year representing Malawi at the Sanlam Summer School for Financial Journalists, courtesy of Nico Holdings Limited.

The programme is an annual training offered by the Sanlam Group to financial journalists.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the sponsorship, Nico Holdings Limited Managing Director, Vizenge Kumwenda, said business and economics journalists have a critical role to play in setting the agenda for economic growth and development.

“Our business journalists have a lot of potential, which, if well nurtured, can be beneficial to the economy.

“Each profession requires training and journalism is a specialised career, which needs special insights and exposure to remain relevant,” he said.

Receiving the sponsorship, Lumwila thanked Nico for the kind gesture. He said the exposure will help him to develop in his career.
