Nissan Malawi unveils Qashqai

Nissan Malawi on Friday unveiled the new Nissan Qashqai during a colourful function held in Blantyre.

The Nissan Qashqai combines premium technology, second generation crossover design and enhanced dynamics.

The new model is longer than its predecessor and fractionally lower and wider, giving it a sleek, poised stance while maintaining the crossover style, compact dimensions and raised driving position.

Inside, Nissan’s designers have created a cabin that combines clarity, harmony and space. The high shoulder line adds to the feeling of safety while the driver enjoys a better view thanks to the high eye point.

According to Nissan Malawi, in creating Qashqai’s cabin, Nissan’s design and engineering teams wanted to put the driver at the heart of the action.

Nissan Malawi principal dealer Ian Bartlett said the launch forms part of Nissan’s Power 88 global business plan for 2011 to 2016.

“Our ambitious plans to launch a new vehicle every week during this time and to introduce 15 new technologies every year will help us reach our Power 88 goals.

“These include achieving global market share of 8 percent and increasing our operating profit to a sustainable 8 percent,” said Bartlett.

Nissan Senior Manager Nthabiseng Motsepe expressed optimism of becoming the top car maker in Malawi.

“Together with the right partners, a compelling product line-up and new infrastructure, we’re confident that we can become the number one carmaker in Malawi.

“We believe that the all-new Qashqai will play a major role in helping us to achieve that goal,” said Motsepe.
