Old Mutual Malawi on Friday donated K8 million to four Christian Health Association of Malawi (Cham) hospitals to procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to enhance Covid-19 prevention.

Old Mutual Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Patience Chatsika, said the firm received calls for support from some hospitals, hence the donation.

“It is very important that as a nation we do not relax in observing Covid-19 prevention protocols.

“We are a corporate citizen and we have a responsible business philosophy which strives to take care of our communities, hence, the donation,” Chatsika said.

Cham Executive Director, Happy Makala, said the funds will be shared equally among the four earmarked hospitals.

They include St Joseph in Nguludi, Mlambe Hospital in Blantyre, Nkhoma Hospital in Lilongwe and Embangweni in Mzimba.

“We have been facing challenges to raise funds to procure PPEs so that we provide safety to caregivers. This donation is unprecedented because we have been crying for support in our hospitals and we are thankful to Old Mutual,” Makala said.
