Old Mutual equips QECH special ward

Old Mutual Malawi, on Friday donated oxygen concentrators and other assorted medical items to the Gogo Chatinkha Maternity wing’s High Dependency Ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.

Old Mutual marketing and corporate affairs executive, Linda Poya, said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to the hospital unit, which they have partnered over the years.

She said the donation was also part of the company’s festive season activities.

“We felt we also needed to celebrate the festive season by alleviating suffering and saving lives,” she said.

Poya said her company highly value the partnership with the hospital facility, saying that was more reason Old Mutual continued to commit itself to the obligation it tied to the facility.

Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital’s chief hospital administrator Themba Mhango praised Old Mutual for its continued support to the facility, saying their help has over the time assisted save lives.

“Their continued assistance to this highly dependence facility has over the time saved lives, considering that our hospital’s intensive care unit cannot meet the demand we face hence this facility is doing a commendable job,” he said.

Apart from the oxygen concentrators, Old Mutual also donated four hospital screens, Glucometers, and Korcher Forceps.
