Samaritan Trust asks for corporate support

Blantyre-based Samaritan Trust has asked the corporate world and other organisations to help it with financial and material support so that it trains more children in business and vocational skills.

The organisation imports education, business and vacation skills to children it picks from the streets so that they start their own business and become self-reliant.

Samaritan Trust Executive Director, Margaret Mukwenha, said this last week following a Christmas treat Rotary Club of Blantyre provided to children at the centre.

She said that the centre wants to ensure that children do not get back into the streets

to beg, but rather do business after acquiring business and vacational skills.

She added that while they appreciate the annual assistance from Rotary Club of Blantyre, there is need for others to help so that more children get education, business and vacational skills they require.

President of Rotary Club of Blantyre Annie Magola also urged companies and other organisations to channel their resources towards the centre considering that most of the children that graduate from the centre contribute a lot to the social economic sectors of the country’s.

“We have been coming here since 2006 to offer the children a good Christmas treat. We believe that others will emulate the gesture indifferent ways. Children need more than just food and we are optimistic that their lives are going to be transformed,” said Magola.
