MDINA—If there are opportunities, we will come
South Africa-based Mdina Construction and Engineering Company has expressed intent to take part in bidding for local projects, a move the firm has said part of expansion plan.
The company’s managing director, Tione Mdina, who is Malawian, said the company h a s a footprint in some countries within the region.
“If there is an opportunity, we will come and assist because at the end of the day, we are running a business, so wherever we find opportunities, whether in Zimbabwe, Malawi or Bostwana, we will go,” Mdina said.
He said there is need for constant checks on projects by the regulators to ensure sanity in the industry.
“We should have milestones and we have set the foundation. Can you come and check if it is complying with the right strength? But that laboratory should only be an accredited one,” Mdina said.
The company started in 2005 and focuses on engineering consultancy and especially in civil works that is water and roads. According to Mdina, the company also does rural electrification and distribution and has also done a lot of mechanical works such as maintenance of prisons and army bases.
