Sunbird Sacco registers strong performance in 2014
Sunbird Sacco registered a strong performance in 2014 despite the economic challenges that rocked the economy.
Among others, the Sacco saw its profitability jumping 63 percent from K15.505 million in 2013 to K25.314 in 2014.
Speaking on the sidelines of the sacco’s annual general meeting, Sunbird Sacco outgoing Chairperson Patricia Kambalame attributed the strong performance good strategies employed by directors as well as management.
During the year, Sunbird Sacco saw its assets swelling from K255.3 million to K318.05 million.
The sacco’s membership base also increased from 1240 in 2013 to 1540 in 2014.
“We are very happy to have posted the enviable results despite the challenges in the operating environment,” said Kambalame.
The members then agreed to share K12 million as dividends.
Looking ahead, Kambalame says the future of the sacco looks bright, saying the institution has put in place strategies to become one of the best saccos in Malawi.
