TNM hands over K3.5m project
TNM on Monday handed over a K3.5 million water tank project to Ntcheu district hospital which will ease water shortages that the hospital has been experiencing over the years.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the hospital, TNM Commercial Manager Allan Witika said the company was concerned with the erratic water supply that the district and the hospital in particular has been experiencing in recent years.
“We were saddened with the reports that the hospital had to suspend major operations due to erratic water supply at the facility,” Witika said.
He said being a Malawian Company, TNM believes in giving back to the community through their corporate social responsibility policy.
“The health sector is one of the sectors that we are investing our money in because we realize that only healthy people can contribute positively to the socio-economic development of this country,” said Witika.
In his remarks, District Health Officer Dr Gift Kwamdera said the donation is very instrumental to successful operations at the hospital.
He said the water tank would go a long way in solving water problems at the hospital.
“The old water tank they had was not able to reach to other important areas like operation theatre,” he said.
