Total Malawi has repaired two electrical pots used for cooking meals at Mpemba Child Reformatory Centre in Blantyre at a cost of K410, 000.

The two pots have stayed for about 10 years without functioning after they developed a technical fault.

Total Malawi Social Corporate Manager, Juventius Flao, said the company decided to respond to the problem after hearing that the centre was using firewood in cooking which resulted into the cutting down trees around the area.

“The use of electricity will help preserve the environment in this area,” said Flao.

Apart from repairing the pots, Total Malawi has also provided kits and other provisions such as oil for future routine maintenance of the pots. The company also donated maize flower and pieces of clothing to the centre.

Receiving the items, Mpemba Refor mator y Centre human resource officer, Macdonald Katsoka, commended Tot a l Malawi for the support, saying at times the children attend classes without taking food due to lack of firewood.
