Entrepreneurs in the country have been challenged to embrace digital marketing to reach the global market with their services and products.
International motivational speaker, entrepreneur and writer, Justin Cohen, said this during the 3rd Biennial Wealth Creation Forum which was held in Blantyre on Friday.
“Digital marketing is the way to go. Facebook and Google, for example, have free lessons on digital marketing and I urge entrepreneurs to take up the lessons and see how best they can reach the world market,” he said.
Cohen then challenged the entrepreneurs to attractively pitch their business ideas both to investors and customers if their businesses are to be successful.
He said sometimes entrepreneurs lose out on businesses to second best competitors because they fail to present ideas and products to prospective investors and buyers.
“On a number of times I have lost business to competitors who were not as good as I was and that was when I knew that pitching a product is even more important than the product itself,” he said.
Cohen then encouraged the entrepreneurs to remain optimistic of their future even if they meet temporary setbacks in their field.
The forum was conducted under the theme ‘Harnessing Malawi’s Digital Economy’.
Nitel Chief Executive Officer, Andy Kamkwalala, said time has come for the country’s entrepreneurs to take full advantage of internet to generate wealth.
“Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube are no longer mere platforms where you chat with people. As entrepreneurs, find problems you can solve using these tools at your disposal,” Kankwalala said.
