The launch of Antchito, a mobile application developed by Virtual Tech, is set to revolutionize the way small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malawi manage their employees. According to Virtual Tech’s managing consultant, Blena Chisenga, many employers rely on trust and manual records, which create risks and often lead to disputes and financial losses. Antchito acts as a digital witness, providing clear and undeniable proof of payments made, leave taken, and documents signed, protecting employers from misunderstandings or false claims.
The app offers a range of features that cater to the needs of SMEs, including robust payment tracking, which allows employers to maintain permanent digital records of transactions made online via Mobile Money, bank transfers, or even manual payments with proof uploads. End-of-service benefits are automatically calculated and accrued, ensuring legal compliance for gratuity and pension contributions. Employers can even pay these benefits directly through the app, making it a one-stop solution for employee management.
Beyond finances, Antchito simplifies daily management by tracking leave requests, balances, and storing crucial documents such as contracts and national IDs in a secure digital vault. Integrated reporting features provide accessible summaries of workforce information, giving employers a clear picture of their operations at a glance. This is particularly useful for SMEs, which often have limited resources and personnel to dedicate to administrative tasks. As Chisenga noted, "For years, employers across Malawi have faced challenges in keeping accurate records of payments, leave, and end-of-service benefits. This has often led to disputes and financial risks. Antchito aims to eliminate these issues by providing a digital platform where all employment details are recorded safely and transparently."
The app also features a "Refer and Earn" program, allowing users to earn commissions for introducing other employers to the platform. This incentive is likely to encourage adoption and drive growth, as users can benefit from referring their peers to the app. With Antchito, SMEs can focus on growing their businesses, rather than worrying about employee management. As the app is now available for download on Google Play Store, with an iOS version expected by the end of the month, employers interested in learning more can visit antchito.mw. By using Antchito, SMEs can zithandiza kwa tsopano, or work smarter, and pangana ndi tsogolo, or build a secure future, for their businesses.
